Homemade Christmas decorations are some of the most unique. They are also a lot of fun because you can enjoy them with your family. Below are 4 fun and easy to make homemade Christmas decorations:

Popcorn Stringing

If you like threaded popcorn, it’s really easy to make. Start with a big bowl of popcorn (unbuttered, of course) and thread it piece by piece using a common stitching needle and thread. Make certain there is enough of popcorn because, if you’re stringing it for garland, you’re going to require a lot.

Cranberry Threading

Much like the popcorn stringing method, several people used to string cranberries using a standard needle and thread. Once Again, make sure there’s enough to go around if you’re going to use it as garland. Most importantly, and I know it is tempting, do not eat all the decorations. Preserve some for the Christmas tree.

Paper Chains

One of the best memories of decorating for Christmas, as a kid, has to be the conventional paper strings. Using green and red construction paper, cut flat strips of each color. Fold them into a circle and seal with tape. Scotch tape is advocated and, if you use this when your kid is young, the smell will incessantly prompt them of Christmas. It will likely become “Christmas tape” to them. Once you have a complete circle, take another strip in an another color and run it through the first circle. Next, fold it around and seal with tape. Complete this step until you have a big strand of paper garland in red and green. You and your child will enjoy doing this together and it will create tremendous memories for you both.

Lighted Wreath

If you love the look of a bright wreath, but don’t quite have a budget for one of the more overpriced ones, consider another choice. You can buy a plain green wreath very inexpensively. A small strand of lights can cost anywhere from one dollar to three dollar. But, put them together and you have the look of a professionally lighted Christmas garland. For this project, you could use either clear or multi-colored Christmas lights. Simply take the plain green wreath and enfold the lights around in a design similar to the streaks on a candy cane. Once you have gone all the way around, gather the last light into the green of the wreath. Make sure that you put it near an electric wall socket because there won’t be a lot of additional cord. Now that you’re ready, plug it in and see your very own design. A red bow is a nice touch, but not required. As people drive by, they will see a attractively bright wreath in your windowpane and they will have no thought that you saved a few dollars by rolling the lights yourself.

Its Christmas time again. We have a lot of relatives to share gifts with. When we were young, we didn’t have a lot of money and always lived on a budget. Finding an exciting Christmas gift was always a challenge due to the limited budget. Christmas gift baskets are a tradition in my family.

Home Made Christmas Gift Basket

Home Made Christmas Gift Basket

My cousin wants a Star Wars toy and my niece will be looking for a Snow Princess Angel toy for this Christmas. Due to our budget we could not afford all these toys, so we decided to give them a homemade Christmas gift basket.

If there is one thing you can say for my family, it is that we always did the best with what we had. Every Christmas gift basket was a work of art. We would, of course, include small bits of gourmet food. My grandmother loved to make preserves, and this was always one of the central ingredients of every Christmas gift basket.

We also include pieces of homemade fresh cheese from my father’s pasture and a bit of sausage. We also include colorful candies for children. All this will be wrapped nicely with colorful paper and tinsel to make a perfect present.

Christmas gift baskets are half about what is inside and half about what is outside. We would do an amazing job wrapping those things up. What we did not have in money, we made up for with time and care.

We would use bows, ribbons, streamers, and anything else we could find around. We would also make great Christmas cards and send them out to all the relatives. No one was ever disappointed with our Christmas gift baskets.

Believe it or not, we received more compliments in sharing gifts baskets. People really like handmade gifts. Almost all the ingredients used in the basket will be useful and practical. Moreover they will indulge in the gift basket on how it was made by looking in to intrinsic details and amaze on how much time we would have taken to prepare it.  They also make wonderful college graduation gifts.

Homemade Christmas gift baskets are nice way to express your love and care. If you are just trying out, it may take a while to used to it and if you keep on doing it, you can create really a wonderful masterpiece. Handmade gift baskets are worth the gift as you will ultimately save money and give a gift which is cherished.

The Holiday season is upon us. One of the most popular forms of home accessories is holiday decorations. Many of us adorn our front porches with carved pumpkins for Halloween, or our living room with a beautifully decorated Christmas tree. In this article, I would like to discuss the one thing that most of us use: lights.

Specialty lighting is one of the most popular forms of home decoration during the holidays. Whether it is lighting up your whole home for Christmas, or placing some glowing Halloween decorations on your front law, there are very few home accessories that do a better job of creating a major effect on the appearance of your property.

There are, however, some draw-backs to holiday lighting. Nobody really enjoys having extension chords strung all over their property or trying to figure out which bulb needs to be replaced in order to get the light string to work. Then comes the electricity bill! Solar holiday lights are a great alternative and come in more styles than you would think.

In just the last few years, solar lighting companies have come out with lots of new styles and applications. This is due to the fact that solar technology has developed so much recently. There are now many different types of solar Christmas and Halloween lights. Here are some that you can add to your list of holiday home accessories.

Some examples of Christmas lights are:

  • Solar Net Lights – These are basically a “net” of LED lights that you use to wrap a shrub. They light up at night and a sensor turns them of when the sun rises. They stay lit for about 8 hours and require 1 AAA battery that is sold separately.

  • Solar Christmas Lights (string lights) – These come in a string of (usually) 50 lights. They are perfect for using just about anywhere you need to string lights, like: hand railings, trees, fence posts, etc. They also have a daylight sensor that turns them on and off at the appropriate times.

  • Multicolor Solar LED Christmas Lights – These are exactly like the Solar string lights, except that they are multicolored. They also have 50 LED bulbs and daylight sensors.

  • Solar Blue Snow Flake Lights – I personally have these and I love them. They are really bright and very pretty. There were a couple of bad reviews on Amazon from people having a problem with the lights shorting out after a while, but I have had no problems with mine. They are only $8 for a string of 20, and the seller has great feedback, so for me, it was worth trying.

Here are some examples of some solar Halloween lights:

  • Solar Halloween Lighted Carved Pumpkin Jack-o-lantern Decoration – This is a solar power smiling Jack-o-lantern decoration for a front lawn or porch. It is about 8″ in diameter and has a daylight sensor that lights it up at night and turns it off during the day.

  • Halloween Sound Activated GO BACK or BOO Rocks – These look like plain old 9.5″ by 6″ by 4″ rocks during the day, but at night they light up with a glowing message that says “Boo” or “Go Back”. These solar powered rocks also come with a day/night sensor.

  • Solar Powered Halloween Skull Decoration – This is a “skull” version of the jack-o-lantern decoration. It’s about 10″ in diameter.

Every one of these holiday decorations comes with the benefits of being solar powered. They all run for about 8 hours on a charge. No jumbles of wires to worry about, or burned out bulbs. No manually turning them on and off or plugging them into timers (the daylight sensors turn them on and off when needed). Best of all, no more huge electric bills! That is about as hassle free as you can get!

There are many more types and styles of solar holiday lights, but I hope I have helped to spark some ideas for you. Stay tuned for more ideas on other great home accessories.
